History and Ethos

From Humble Beginnings

This is a grassroots business driven by Emily’s passion to bring back the medicine of the hive to the people.

Emily’s life is interwoven with the bee on a deep and cellular level. She is passionate about bee guardianship, natural bee tending and reviving the ancient methods of hive medicines of the hive.

Ten years ago, Emily fell in love with bees, and it became her life’s purpose to work intimately with them; firstly exploring mythology and a spiritual connection to the bees.
Emily then had the amazing opportunity to live and volunteer with Save the Bees Australia for five years. This was filled with hands-on bee work - with every one of Simon’s hives a rescue (they would re-home bees from many different structures to save them from being exterminated). This immersive experience was life-changing, proving that activism campaigns can work and the power social media can have when people come together like bees, to work towards solutions.
Experimenting with making products out of beeswax, Emily processed what was left over from the rescues, and it organically became the beginning of Embodybee.
She moved away and worked with many different styles of natural hive designs and researched Apitherapy (an alternative modality of healing using not just all the products, but the elements of the bee hive to benefit human health and healing). Emily is an advocate for natural bee tending and has taught her Introduction to Bee Guardianship for 5 years now.

Emily moved to a rural community and lived off the grid, collaborating with a herbalist on the land to create a production space and Apiary in pristine conditions. She worked hard to continue creating the highest-quality and vibrational products, refining and perfecting techniques and recipes.

Emily closed down the business in 2025 and took a 6-month break with her daughter to travel overseas and deepen her knowledge of Apitherapy from incredible bee tenders around the world. She will relaunch a few simple high quality products to the public before she returns in 2026. Little by little she will revamp and bring back her iconic apitherapy range, dreaming up everything even bigger and better.

Emily selects the best-of-the-best quality ingredients, making sure they are as organic, local and sustainably sourced as possible. Yet as a bee lover and hyper-aware of the dodgy practices commonly used in the bee industry, she makes sure everything is ethical and honourable to the bees.
Embodybee creates the highest vibrational hand-made hive alchemy for the people. An ancient remembering women into a modern context, for everyday life.

The Embodybee Vision

Emily is working towards creating a physical retail apothecary, where you can access hive medicine. She is currently in the development stage and is hoping to offer a very unique modality of healing called Apitherapy, using not just the products of a bee hive, but the elements. Emily will have a bee-hive-bed to experience breath-work with hive air, and treatments with beeswax hand dipping and glorious facials.  With the beautiful support of her incredible customers she can sense this vision becoming reality in the near future.

We give back to the bees

Simon Mulvaney, the heart of Save the Bees Australia, has been fighting for Australian honey and native bees for over a decade. He’s saved over six hundred bee colonies, especially on the Mornington Peninsula, by embracing natural beekeeping—letting bees swarm and rehome as nature intended, reflecting his deep, almost spiritual connection to them. His mantra, “bees don’t respond well to greed,” drives his work. He’s taken on honey laundering, calling out big players like Capilano Honey for allegedly selling fake or adulterated honey. He’s also fought pesticide programs, successfully halting poisoning on the Mornington Peninsula and now challenging Queensland’s drone and helicopter pesticide drops aimed at ants but killing bees. Back in two thousand sixteen, he created the Save the Bees Honey Map, a free online tool connecting consumers directly to local beekeepers for authentic Australian honey, bypassing dodgy imports. It’s practical—plug in your postcode, find a beekeeper, and support real, sustainable honey. Simon’s tireless activism keeps pushing against commercial greed and environmental threats to protect bees and their ecosystems.
