These beautiful high quality silver earrings are a copy of the ‘Bees of Malia’ pendant.
The original Malia Pendant is gold and was found in a tomb in 1930 at Chrysolakkos, Malia, Crete. It dates to the Minoan civilisation, 1800-1650 BC.
It cult practices of the Minoans and their deep remains spiritual connection to the bees are their medicines are still somewhat of a mystery. Yet this powerful ancient symbol may hold a clue into their animistic ways.
My personal opinion is that original pendant is not just a representation of how bees collect nectar and transform it into honey. I believe that is no coincidence that shape of the pendant also mimics the clitoris and female reproductive organs. Making these stunning earring a potent symbol for both the magic of the Hive and the womb.
